Why Would One Need Work Experience To Pursue an MBA?    

It’s almost always a good choice to have worked before getting an admission to  MBA colleges in Ahmedabad , and every other city out there. And even business schools insist on it.

Let’s take a look at a few key reasons behind b-schools preferring work experience before a PGDM or an MBA:

To build upon the existing knowledge

Having worked somewhere prior to getting a PGDM or an MBA helps you a lot because you can now build upon an existing knowledge that you might have. Whatever you would have learned while being part of an industry - all the practical knowledge that you must have collected - you would now have a theory to back that all up. You would be able to make more out of your work experience when you actually get to study about it.

To have a different perspective

Work experience also would give you a different perspective on how things might be taught in the classroom. So, you might not agree with certain things, saying that they differ from how things are done in the practical world. You might even come up with unique solutions to problems, just because your mind would have been exposed to a different environment before coming to the classroom. It would be great for any classroom discussions, or while solving various cases if you have already had a taste of the practical world out there.

Building upon the previous point, with different people having had different kinds of experiences - for different kinds of companies, in different kinds of industries altogether, for either small companies, or for large corporations, in different cities, and so on - that the discussions on various topics would get really interesting, more often than not. Also, there must be students coming right out of their college, with no work experience at all. Having their opinion with yours, it would really benefit everyone.

Placement is made easier

Not just the MBA colleges, but also, the best companies out there are looking for people who have had a prior work experience. This is for the same reason - that such a person would be able to bring a lot of new energy, new ideas, and a new outlook on the company that they would now work for.

An MBA or a PGDM is a degree that is really dependent on how well you understand your subjects, and how well are you able to then apply that understanding to the practical world. And if you have already have had some experience in the real world, it gets easy for you to build a broad mindset towards whatever theory you study. This way you won’t just apply the knowledge to any past problems you might have faced while at work, but you will be able to see how a subject can have different implications in different industries. You will be able to better correlate various industries and the problems they face, and might even be able to solve those problems.
